Chapter 2: Rescuing the Ydas Crew

Aucerius Plains

Enter the Aucerius Plains to establish a Fast Travel Point. Then make some side trips before going to Baldaar.

Quests

• Remember to visit Welch in Delryk. This time she gives you the Welch the Alchemist Quest. Complete it post-haste and she will unlock Alchemy in the Item Creation menu. Use Alchemy to convert your ore into higher-grade ore that can be used to make new weapons and armor through Smithery.
• Fast Travel to Rythal and go into the home at the far south of town. The Sickly Woman there will have the Quest, A Healing Herb. This Quest can and should be completed before you move on because it lets you complete another quest, too.
• After completing the Sickly Woman's quest, talk to her again. She is the mother of the Manipulative Man you met on The Aucerian Highroad. She will give you a letter to her son, allowing you to deliver it and complete the Quest, A Long-Awaited Message.
• Deliver the letter to the Manipulative Man and you can find him later in Acendros City. Look by the pool at the far east side of the city, near the Materials Shop. He will have the Mama's Favorite Quest for you now.
• Travel to Eda and head toward the Inn. East of the Inn is a row of four houses. You can enter the third house and talk to the Aspiring Writer. He will give you the Quest, Chapter One in Becoming a Novelist, another quest you can complete right away.
• Once you complete the Aspiring Writer's quest, return to Acendros City and speak again with the Magnificent Writer near the Materials Shop. He will send you off with the Quest, A Glimpse of Talent.

Side Quests

You received Cryptographic Messages as rewards for completing some of the Quests above. You may as well put them to use. Refer to that section of the Guide for details on the side quest. You can find some new items now by studying Cryptographic Messages B and C.

Fast Travel back to the Aucerius Plains to continue.

The Aucerius Plains are huge and grassy, like the Aucerian Highroad, but with grass that is more dense and taller. You'll see the same enemies you saw on the Highroad, too, though enemy encounters are less frequent here. Items appear throughout the Plains but not so concentrated in the center. To collect everything you need to zigzag back and forth, east to west, or go down one side of the map and back up the other.

East of the entrance to Acendros, while still in the shadow of the city wall, look for a gold Collection Point with this area's Hermes Lily. Southeast of that spot, look for another flower. The Collection Point there has the Antique Brooch needed for the Brooch Hunt Quest. You can complete the Quest now and Fast Travel back here when you are done. Part of your reward for completing the quest is Cryptographic Message D. Unfortunately, you won't be able to do anything with it until later.

Moving southeast from the site of the Brooch, near the east zone boundary, is a cluster of DUMA Point Crystals. Head west to the top of a tall hill and fly up to the small floating island southwest. From there you can fly up to a larger island and open a chest to get Rune Metal x1. Fly southwest from the island with the chest to collect a line of DUMA Point Crystals. Fly south from the new island to another small island with a large DUMA Point Crystal. Go back to the small floating island again and drop off the northeast side to catch another large DUMA Point Crystal on your way back down to the ground.

Scattered across the plains you see large, cone-shaped rock formations around a crystal that emits a pillar of light. Cross the road to the west and search at the base of one of those cones to find a chest that contains a Shillelagh Rod for Midas.

Go back across the road east. When you get to the area where you found the first chest, head southeast. There is a floating island with a chest that holds some Artisan Pliers. There is a large DUMA Point Crystal on a higher floating island west. You'll also find several small clusters of DUMA Point Crystals on the ground going east to west below the floating islands. Let them lead you back to the west side of the Plains.

Head all the way back to the west-side road. West of the road is a Scumbag Camp. There is a Collection Point on top of the west lookout tower and up the hill west of the camp is a group of three DUMA Point Crystals.

Another of those cone-shaped rock formations can be found to the southeast. Search around the base for a treasure chest with Physical Stimulant x1. On the other side of the base is the region's Shrine as well as some DUMA Point Crystals.

There is another group of floating islands south of the Shrine. Explore them to find a large DUMA Point Crystal and a Collection Point. Due south near the zone line you'll find another Collection Point, this one's on the ground.

Cross to the east side of the region here. Near the center, you need to clear out a Scumbag camp. There is a Collection Point in the open northeast of the camp. Find another camp to the southeast and when you are done with the Scumbags, open the chest by a tent for a Lucky Rabbit. There also is a chest at the base of the cone-shaped rock formation to the east. This one contains a Symbol of Dread.

Parallel the zone boundary southeast and find a line of DUMA Point Crystals and a Collection Point as you go. There also is a line of Red DUMA Point Crystals a little farther south.

The east exit is not open now, so head back toward the center of the Plains. About halfway to the next cone-shaped formation, a chest sits beside a rock. Inside is the Pericci playing piece.

Head south from the chest until you reach the boundary and a Collection Point. If you keep going south, you may be able to capture a Simply Pink Mini-Bunny.

There is another chest and a large DUMA Point Crystal northwest but you will have to reach floating islands to retrieve them. You get Mithril x3 from the chest.

All the way over on the west side you'll see a Collection Point on a rock near the westernmost cone-shaped rock formation and a large DUMA Point Crystal on the opposite side of the cone. There are three more Crystals on the south side of the cone.

You find two more spots with three DUMA Point Crystals each on the east side of the road farther south. After collecting them, follow the road south and speak with the guard at the gate to Baldaar Citadel.
